The development of the text and our story
Emergency Exit is a trilogy consisting of theatrical plays and their respective characters, selected and adapted to focus on the moment when one is confronted with the dilemma to stay or leave and aiming to express aspects of the crisis in Greece. The play was written for two actresses and one puppeteer. The three stories are the following:
-
Love, Nora from "The Dollhouse" by Ibsen
-
Faith, Judith from the "Jewish Wife" by Brecht
-
Hope, Olya and Irina from the "Three Sisters" by Chekhov
The journey of the production
The performance was staged in 2012 in Vryssaki Theater and was also presented in the Athens Fringe Live. In the summer it was selected in the "Modern Theatre Festival" in the context of Aischilia 2012 in the Open Theater Palaio Elaiourgeio in Elefsina. The following year Emergency Exit was restaged once more for the main stage of Theater 104 in Gazi with a new approach and the reinforcement of new experts who joined the project team, such as the music composer Tamara Friebel who composed the song "Cold Feet" for the performance and the choreographer Elli Tabaki.
